MSV LDLC Championships

23/10/2017

The Long Distance Long Course championships were held on Sunday 15 October 2017.

Doncaster Dolphins were represented by 6 swimmers at this meet.   It was an afternoon meet starting at 2pm and ending 6pm.   There was some reshuffling of events at the start of the meet to make the program shorter so we had to alter our plans for rest and nutrition during the day.  It also affected the timekeeping somewhat.

We were asked to bring our own timekeepers but we managed quite well between us, with a little help from competitors from other clubs.  Thanks to Janette Dickey who helped mum Dot out and to Jan Jeffrey  from the Malvern Marlins, Mark Sendecky, Glamourheads and Alan Gibson and Leanne Sheean  who stayed to the end of the meet and also assisted with timekeeping for my 1500m, the final heat of the day.

The Dolphins all won their respective events and came home with 8 Gold medals, one National Record and five State records between us.   Leanne took on a huge swim program, having swum a full Saturday morning schedule the previous day but nevertheless she produced a very good 1500m time at the end of the day.  It was extremely hot poolside which was wearying in itself.

I am sure that there were many club records broken and we await confirmation from our Recorder on her return from travel.
