What a difference a week makes! 42 degrees and strong winds at Torquay made for some challenging swimming.
The More Dangerous 2.5km swim was completed by Mick O'Connor and me, with Mick taking bragging rights by 10 seconds!
Megan Botha won the Open female 500m swim - well done Megan.
The Danger 1000 course was altered to run clockwise due to the strong wind. Organisers were concerned that we would disappear around Point Danger. I'm not sure this made the swim any easier, but Dolphins again showed their class with some great results:
Warriors 70+ : Mirjana Prather 2nd, Ros McLean 4th
Legends 65-69 : Ewen Templeton 15th
Supervets 60-64 : Sue Crow 1st, Leanne Sheean 2nd, Frank Christian 1st
Grandvets 55-59 : Peta Harvey 2nd, Mick O"Connor 17th
Veterans 50-54 : Paula Botha 22nd, Andrew Gilchrist 2nd, Rohan Fanning 3rd (?)
Super Master 40-44 : Rebecca Cook 6th
This year's event was "plastic free," which I thought was a great initiative. Plenty of water was available at the hydration station, and the prize packs contained a metal drink bottle. Every little bit helps to keep the plastic waste out of our oceans, and our marine animals safe.
