The Australia Day weekend had plenty of Open Water swims on offer; MMAD & GADS on Friday, Queenscliff on Saturday, And K-Rock & ABG on Sunday.
Mount Martha
Jackie and Donna tackled the 5km swim. Well done ladies!
Megan, Dot, Jackie, Ros (2nd), Dee (3rd), Barb (2nd), Frank (1st), Rod, Rohan, and Colin swam the MMAD 1.2 dash. Good to see you back in the bay Rod. The cheer squad (Sue and Wendy) tell me they did get wet, but I’m yet to see any evidence.

Brighton
Sue (1st), Caroline, and Peta (1st), completed the 1.4 km swim, and I swam the 2.5 as well.
If you like a water start, this is the event for you.
Queenscliff 180
A brand new 1km swim in a nice arc from the ferry terminal past the pier towards the lighthouse.
Peta (2nd), Dee (2nd), Rohan, Barry, Jackie, Megan, and Rebecca tried this one out. They are considering adding a 2km swim next year. With wine as a prize, I will return!
Ocean Grove
This was the 2nd year for the K-Rock Swim Festival. It wasn’t as rough as last year, but it is a surf beach and there is a bit of running when the tide is out. Jackie and I swam the 2.5 km event – lovely without wetsuits on a very hot day. Ros (1st), Rohan (3rd) Megan, Jackie, & I swam the 1.2.
Frankston
No takers for the Australian Beach Games this year. Perhaps next time.
